Committees

Education Committee

Organizes industry specific educational programs and events involving prominent industry leaders, public officials, media figures and programs surrounding potential project opportunities. Committee members help determine program topics for the entire organization, as well as joint programs with allied organizations.

Membership Committee

Oversees and carries out programs to help keep existing as well as attract and welcome new members to the Chapter. Plans and executes new member orientations and related events and benefits. Requires regular outreach to current or potential members from across the AEC industry.

Public Relations Committee

Manages internal and external communication of the chapter. Publicizes activities of chapter committees through publication of the chapter’s e-newsletter. Maintains the SMPS Virginia website (www.smpsva.org), and the manages public relations program.

Community Outreach Committee

Directs and supports the Chapter in focusing resources toward a year-round community outreach effort that “connects” and intertwines with all Chapter activities, events and programs.

Sponsorship Committee

Committee members solicit sponsorship for our organization through opportunities with our monthly and educational programs, special networking events, and the membership directory. Committee members also coordinate with the program and education committees, and act as liaison to sponsors during events.

Conference Planning Committee

Responsible for the planning, coordination, and facilitation of the SMPSVA Annual Statewide Conference, historically held in Charlottesville. Includes developing theme(s), securing speakers, setting the schedule, offering and tracking sponsorships, registration management, materials preparation, promotion, etc.

Special Events Committee

Plans and manages the social events.

Past Presidents Council

Provides strategic input and ideas to the organization, and orchestrates the annual SMPS Virginia awards and scholarships.
